BOSTON, MA – July 11, 2019 – CHAOSSEARCH, Inc., creator of the first solution to make cloud storage searchable, today announced that market veteran Derek Schoettle will be joining as an independent board member. In this role, Schoettle will help CHAOSSEARCH define its strategic messaging and provide market insights based on his more than 20 years of industry experience.
The CHAOSSEARCH platform, which became generally available in April, is the first to allow cloud storage to be indexed and searched with ease. Using a patented data compression algorithm, it also addresses the affordability issue cloud storage typically poses. Storage costs rise quickly as data grows, making it impossible to store data more than a few weeks old, let alone search it. Schoettle has spent his career addressing similar problems, and is an ideal addition to the board to help CHAOSSEARCH navigate its growth in this market.
“Derek will bring a breadth of knowledge and expertise to our board, thanks to his unique perspective about the cloud and data issues customers have been wrestling with for the past couple of decades,” said Les Yetton, chief executive officer of CHAOSSEARCH. “Not only will he be a key participant in helping our team define our strategic approach, but his industry insights and connections will help us bring the benefits and capabilities of the CHAOSSEARCH platform to more users.”
Schoettle is currently an operating partner at Great Hill Partners, where he collaborates with portfolio companies to accelerate growth. He specializes in strategic differentiation, go-to-market, marketing, portfolio management, product management, and M&A. He has spent most of his career helping disruptive technologies achieve commercial success and has worked with numerous high-growth technology companies and large-scale, platform businesses.
Prior to his current role, Schoettle served as CEO of ZoomInfo until March 2019. Before that, he was a general manager at IBM Watson & Cloud, a role he moved into after being CEO of Cloudant, which was acquired by IBM in 2014. He has also worked with Microsoft on some of the same problems CHAOSSEARCH is trying to solve, helping businesses easily and affordably scale and search their cloud storage.
“The work CHAOSSEARCH is doing to make the cloud searchable and scalable is a game-changer for businesses that have been limited by the high costs and data access capabilities of current cloud storage options,” said Schoettle. “As the amount of data companies have to contend with increases exponentially, it is essential that we develop solutions that allow the technology stack to maintain functionality at larger scales.”
